Dan Coppins - Packaging Technologist & Sustainability Consultant
Based in Ashford, Kent in the UK, I’ve been a professional Packaging Engineer since 2014. A through and through packaging nerd, I thoroughly enjoy all things packaging engineering, sustainability and have an affinity with packaging development. I have made a career out of packaging development that has led to me starting Pack-Man Consulting back in 2023.
Over the years as a Packaging Engineer, I’ve worked closely with companies of all sizes from small startups to global well-known household brands and everything in between, providing packaging solutions that withstand supply chains and maintain quality standards.
Highly regarded in the packaging industry with a wide network of industry experts, I use both my own knowledge, but also collaborate with these friends and colleagues to answer those questions that require multi-functional solutions.
I enjoy solving challenges from quality issues, through to new innovation development, my ability to learn and adjust at pace allows me to have the agility needed to hit the ground running on new projects.

Offering NPD or EPD guidance, end to end or specific challenges, I can support, optimise, test and drive innovation in your packaging development process. Ensuring correct industry testing, as well as consumer experience and sustainability objectives are met. Either interim support, or end to end development is available to ensure your products are developed thoroughly, with consideration for your business, the consumer, but also the environmental impact that they have.
Packaging Trialling & Manufacture
Offering support through manufacture, providing packaging technology support through shop floor trialling. Whether it is a new component introduction, or a new material type, NPD or product change on the line. Line trialling is a key element to packaging and business efficiency. Testing on line allows real world condition testing, but recording, measuring and understanding these changes, risks and improvements is key. I will assist by observing tests, collecting data, reviewing and making recommendations to ensure the best solutions are designed and implemented. Working with clients manufacturing teams, I offer packaging specific insight to production challenges.
